EverPulse began with our family.
Our founders, Katie Bales and John Benedetti, entered the world of congenital heart disease when their son, JJ, was diagnosed with a complex heart condition before he was born. Since then, they have experienced firsthand both the extraordinary capabilities of pediatric heart care and the limitations that still exist for children who need specialized treatments and technologies.
Throughout JJ’s care, Katie and John watched incredibly talented physicians find creative ways to use the tools available to them, sometimes adapting devices designed for adults because a pediatric option simply did not exist. They saw remarkable innovation happening inside hospitals, research labs, and startups, but also learned how difficult it can be to move a promising pediatric technology from an idea to something physicians can actually use.
That experience changed the way they saw the problem.
Children with congenital heart disease do not lack brilliant physicians, researchers, or innovators working on their behalf. Too often, what is missing are the resources, funding, and connections needed to move promising technologies forward. Pediatric medical devices serve smaller patient populations, making traditional commercial investment harder to attract and leaving potentially life-changing innovations without a clear path to patients.
Katie and John created EverPulse to help close that gap.
Today, EverPulse works to accelerate innovation in pediatric heart care by funding promising medical technologies and bringing together the people and resources needed to advance them. Our work is deeply personal, but our mission extends far beyond one child or one family.
JJ is part of why EverPulse exists. Children like him are why we keep pushing forward.
Because every child with congenital heart disease deserves more than the best option available today. They deserve the breakthroughs of tomorrow.
EverPulse exists to accelerate innovation in pediatric heart care by funding and advancing life-changing medical technologies through strategic funding, partnerships, and advocacy.
Congenital heart disease (CHD) affects nearly 1 in every 100 children born worldwide, making it the most common type of birth defect. Advances in medicine have transformed what is possible for children born with CHD, yet the technologies available to treat them have not always kept pace.
Developing medical devices specifically for children presents unique challenges. Pediatric patient populations are smaller, commercial incentives are limited, and the path from a promising idea to an approved device can be long, expensive, and complex. As a result, innovative technologies with the potential to improve, and even save, children’s lives can struggle to secure the funding and resources needed to move forward.
EverPulse was created to help change that.
We sit at the intersection of funding, innovation, and advocacy, identifying promising technologies, providing critical funding, and connecting innovators with the people, partners, and resources that can help move their work closer to patients.
We believe children with heart disease deserve technologies designed with their needs in mind. By helping promising innovations overcome the barriers between an idea and the bedside, we are working toward a future where the size of a patient population does not determine the pace of innovation.
We provide strategic funding to researchers, startups, and medical technology developers advancing solutions for children with heart disease. Our funding helps bridge financial gaps that can slow promising pediatric technologies on their path toward patients
We engage donors, families, clinicians, and industry partners in the effort to advance pediatric heart innovation. Through fundraising, education, and community outreach, we build awareness of the pediatric device gap and inspire people to be part of solving it.
We bring together innovators and the people who can help move their work forward, from clinicians and strategic advisors to regulatory experts, industry partners, and funders. By strengthening connections across the pediatric innovation ecosystem, we help promising technologies find the expertise and resources they need to advance.
